Maryland outlasts Wake

John Bazemore

I must say Maryland's 75-64 win over Wake Forest tonight comes as a bit of a surprise. Maybe not so much the fact that the Terps won, but more how they did it.

The seventh-seeded Terrapins led for almost the entire game and played like they were the higher seeded team. Aside from James Johnson, Wake Forest looked confused, uninterested and at times, outmatched.

Jeff Teague went scoreless in the first half and only mustered nine second half points. He shot 3 of 13 on the night.

Now to the team that seemed to care.

Maryland, led once again by Greivis Vasquez, put on an offensive as well as rebounding show on its way to reaching the semis tomorrow. Vasquez scored 22, dished nine assists and pulled down eight rebounds. Combine those numbers with last night and Vasquez, at least right now, is the tournament MVP.

Duke and BC are playing now and man it's exciting. Duke is up 11-2 with 11:00 minutes remaining in the first half.
